With ten Grammy Awards, a four-octave range and unmatched repertoire of vocal techniques, McFerrin is an explorer. Whether solo or in collaboration with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma, Chick Corea or the Vienna Philharmonic, his extraordinary, celebratory a cappella songs weave a rich tapestry of many threads: jazz sonorities, blues and liturgical harmonies and hints of African chanting (Top Magazine). From his '80s pop hit Don't Worry, Be Happy to spontaneously improvised vocals, McFerrin is a rare and tireless innovator who has singlehandedly extended the range of the human voice. The result is soaring, spiritual performances that are exotic and hypnotic (Associated Press)and full of surprises. |
