Spotlight discussion with Midori immediately following the performance, Spaulding Auditorium

When conductor Zubin Mehta first heard 11-year-old Midori in 1982, he invited her to perform at New York Philharmonic's New Year's Eve concert—a debut that skyrocketed the passionate violinist to enduring international fame. Performing and recording ever since with the most prestigious musicians and orchestras throughout the world, she won the coveted Avery Fisher Prize in 2001 for unparalleled excellence. Expect to experience Midori's risk-taking “sonic expressiveness”(The New York Times) and “exquisite wedding of emotional presence and violinistic elegance”(Philadelphia Inquirer) when she performs at the Hop with long-time collaborator, pianist Robert McDonald. Their program includes Mozart's Sonata in B-flat Major, K. 454; Ravel's Sonata, Schumann's Sonata No. 1 in A minor, Op. 105; and Szymanowski's Notturno e Tarantella.
