Post-performance discussion with Will Power, Warner Bentley Theater

Will Power turns hip-hop on its head, tapping storytelling traditions from the oral history of West African griots to the epic poetry of Homer. An award-winning performer with stage, TV and film credits—and long street rap experience—Power fuses syncopated rhymes with fluid, stylized movement and live DJ soundtrack to deliver theater having the “lift of verse...[and] the energy of a musical” (The New York Times). Vocally and visually transforming himself into seven different characters—each with a vivid story from an urban neighborhood—he layers social commentary and a mythic imagination in this pioneering piece first produced by New York Theatre Workshop. Flow, directed by well-known monologuist Danny Hoch, is an “electrifying one-man show...a warmly empowering tale about enduring wisdom” (Newsday).

Performance contains some adult language.
