Jane Monheit's winning performance at the 1998 Thelonius Monk Competition at the age of 20 launched a vocal career that's still soaring. Raised on Ella Fitzgerald and trained at New York's Manhattan School of Music, she's known for her love of vintage jazz standards and her “lush, creamy tone with a winningly light touch” (USA Today). With four recordings—her second reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Charts—she's become a jazz diva exceptional enough to be included with vocal greats Diana Krall, Cassandra Wilson and Dianne Reeves on the 2001 Grammy-nominated CD Let's Get Lost. Joined by her quartet, Jane Monheit intoxicates with such classics as Love Me or Leave Me, In the Still of the Night and Embraceable You—and a delivery that's “pitch-perfect... luminous... intimate... [and] transcendent” (DownBeat).
