After 9/11, playwright Rik Reppe walked away from his lucrative consulting business, tossed a sleeping bag into the back of a pickup truck and set out to find the real meaning of America. His eight-week trek across the country took him from L.A. to the Pentagon, from Ground Zero to a lonely, haunted field in Western Pennsylvania. That trip gave birth to his “hilarious and heartwarming” (Los Angeles Times) one man show, Staggering Toward America, which captures not only “John Wayne-sized flamboyant American weird,” but the true heart of the country.

Contains adult language and themes.

Part of Class Divide, a three-year Hopkins Center initiative examining social and economic class issues.

This project is made possible in part by a grant from the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Creative Campus Innovations Grant Program, a component of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
