Handel's Messiah has grown steadily in popularity since it was first performed in Dublin in 1742, becoming a beloved Christmas tradition. With text from both the Old and New Testaments, and embodying Handel's own experience of divine inspiration while writing it, Messiah is epic in proportion. Unrivaled in the oratorio literature, this radiant masterpiece, both towering and tender, overpowering and personal, reinforced Handel's already prodigious stature and sealed his immortality. Join the Handel Society and special guests for the last concert of its Bicentennial Celebration. With the rare and very special appearance of renowned German conductor, Helmuth Rilling, this promises to be a joyous holiday event. Hallelujah!

Cosponsored by the William P. and Dewilda N. Harris German/Dartmouth Distinguished Visiting Professorship.
