There ain't nothing in the world like Big Band Funk—20 musicians on-stage grooving—and no one has as much funk status as Joe Bowie! For two decades, the famed trombonist led the legendary New York-based punk-funk-jazz band Defunkt, before forming the Defunkt Big Band in the '90s, pioneering a fusion of music styles with uncompromising creativity. Now based in Holland, Bowie returns for an unprecedented third residency and concert with the Barbary Coast, along with groove masters Adam Klipple '92 on keyboards and Tobias Ralph on drums, for a “burning fire of sound…music to emancipate your soul.”
