In the second part of this series on rhythm, the World Music Percussion Ensemble digs deep into American roots. From the South come hand-clapping and toe-tapping melodies, sharecropper ballads and folk songs. From the streets and clubs of New Orleans come Mardi Gras revelries, R&B favorites and jazz and blues rhythms. The original music of America—whether it's illustrating stories, celebrating life, or lamenting its hardships— features powerfully in this WMPE concert. Expect blues tunes by John Lee Hooker and swing classics by Eddie DeLange. Get in sync and check it out.

Part of Class Divide, a three-year Hopkins Center initiative examining social and economic class issues.
