Intense. Emotional. Visceral. These words aren't often used to describe Baroque music, but they fit the dazzling Venice Baroque Orchestra to a note. Founded in 1997 by conductor Andrea Marcon, the internationally celebrated period ensemble captures the true spirit of the Italian Baroque in exhilarating live concerts and award-winning recordings on Sony Classical and the esteemed Deutsche Grammophon label. Featuring the renowned Italian violinist Giuliano Carmignola—a musician “of immense brilliance” (Gramophone)—VBO presents an all-Vivaldi program. These concertos and sinfonias display the composer's range of expression and compositional technique, with exciting tempo shifts, heart-searing lyricism and well-loved pictorial qualities. Hear the passion, fire and sheer artistry of period music as never before.
