NRITYAGRAM DANCE ENSEMBLE OF INDIATuesday, April 21 • 7 pm Like the graceful forms depicted in the ancient temple ruins of Orissa, India, the exquisite dancers of Nrityagram perform some of the oldest traditions in the world. Moving like spirit bodies, garbed in flowing, brightly colored silk, silver ornaments and bells, they move to the music in perfect precision and harmony. Nurtured and trained within the Nrityagram village, the dancers are immersed not just in the intricacies of classical Indian dance, but in mythology, Sanskrit, yoga, spiritual thought and music. From this finely attuned sense of devotion, ancient customs as well as contemporary creativity blossom into the vivid performances of this company.
