The Dartmouth Wind Symphony kicks off the '09/10 season with its new conductor Matthew Marsit, a clarinetist/educator hailing from Cornell, where he's been assistant director of wind ensembles. For his first DWS concert, he presents an eclectic program by British composers, including Ralph Vaughan Williams' famous English Folk Song Suite; the explosive and popular Mars from Gustav Holst's The Planets; contemporary composer Bill Connors' fun piece Tails aus dem Vood Viennoise; and Guy Woolfenden's Gallimaufry, a colorful and multifarious work written for Shakespeare's Henry IV plays at London's Barbican Theatre in 1982.
