MOZART'S REQUIEM MASS IN D-MINOR, K. 626

Louis Burkot, conductor
with Arcadia Players

Saturday, February 6 • 8 pm
Spaulding Auditorium • $18
Dartmouth students $5

The rich lore surrounding Mozart's Requiem, or mass for the dead—from the commissioner's anonymity, to the composer's untimely death while completing the work—is outstripped only by the magnificence of the music itself, with wrenching pleas for salvation and ecstatic contemplation of the divine. This concert features accompaniment by the 25-member “impeccable, energetic, and riveting” (Classical Voice of New England) Arcadia Players, whose period instruments and historically informed playing enable the faster tempos, more declamatory vocal style and leaner, more defined musical textures true to baroque music.
