Marketing Assistant
Position Purpose
To provide coordinated communications and resource organization support for the Hopkins Center's marketing staff and to provide administrative support for the Director of Marketing.
Key Accountabilities
Communication Coordination
Serves as principal contact between Hop marketing staff and artists and/or their management representatives, for purposes of acquiring photos, biographical materials, audio or video recordings and other materials that are required to promote performances.
Schedules marketing planning meetings with Hop programming and ensemble directors, Theater and Music Department faculty and guest directors and others.
Playbill Editing
Solicits and receives playbill content information from external and internal sources and then edits and organizes within the Hopkins Center's style guidelines.
Proofreads playbills and other publications, and helps coordinate proofreading by others.
Office Administration/Organization
Provides office support, schedule organization, and communications as requested for the Director of Marketing.
Sets up and maintains the marketing department's comprehensive files of promotional materials for all artists and events.
Recruits, hires and helps to supervise the work of student staff.
Maintains the marketing departmental database of event information.
Monitors purchasing card usage and assigns proper account numbers to purchases.
Marketing
Participates as a member of the departmental team in planning and implementing creative strategies to promote and publicize Hopkins Center events.
Develops selection criteria and extracts digital mailing lists from the box office computerized ticketing database for use in direct mail campaigns.
Coordinates the distribution of posters, postcards and other direct mail materials in accordance with production schedules as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Skills & Knowledge
Strong written and oral communication skills, including proficiency in principles of English language: grammar, punctuation and style consistency.
Proficiency with computers in a networked office environment, and with word processing, spreadsheet, database management and other software.
Proficiency with Excel.
Familiarity with basic marketing and customer service principles and concepts.
Demonstrates a commitment to diversity and serving the needs of a diverse population.
Experience
2-3 years of editing, writing experience, preferably in a cultural institution.
Significant experience in work involving the principles of the English language, grammar, punctuation and consistency of style.
Education
Associate's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
