Tango Festival Pre-Concert Presentations

Presented in conjunction with the
Dartmouth Wind Symphony

Meet the artists and learn more about their craft: join Dartmouth Wind Symphony conductor Matthew M. Marsit in two pre-concert presentations as you prepare for an afternoon of great music presented by the Dartmouth Wind Symphony.

  • At 12 pm in the Hopkins Center’s Alumni Hall, meet Juan Pablo Jofre, bandoneon artist from New York City, as he takes you through “The Tango and the Bandoneon.” Includes live performance and discussion by Juan Pablo Jofre. Free and open to the public.
  • Remain in Alumni Hall at 1 pm for a lecture/movement demonstration by Adriana Salgado and Orlando Reyes entitled “The First Steps of Tango.” Before you see and hear it on stage, come experience why millions are drawn to this beautiful dance. Bring a partner or come alone and dance with a member of the Dartmouth Wind Symphony. Free and open to the public.
