DARTMOUTH DANCE ENSEMBLE

The Dartmouth Dance Ensemble is the student performing group under the auspices of the Hopkins Center Dance Program. The focus of the Dance Ensemble is to provide a showcase for student and professional choreographers, exposing ensemble members to a breadth of styles and content representing the scope of contemporary modern dance. Ensemble dancers are selected by audition in the fall term based on potential, individual versatility and technical range. Required to take daily classes and rehearse approximately two hours per evening Monday through Friday, Dance Ensemble members can receive one academic credit for three consecutive terms of participation in the Ensemble.

Since the Dance Ensemble's inception in 1999, Ensemble members and guest and faculty choreographers have created 23 new works. During the Spring '03 term, the Dance Ensemble toured to Costa Rica and performed with the Dance Company of the National University in San Jose, Costa Rica. The Dance Ensemble roster consists of both undergraduate and graduate Dartmouth students.
