Laylah Ali, Artist-in-Residence
JAFFE-FRIEDE GALLERY
Laylah Ali lives and works in Williamstown, MA. She received a bachelors degree from Williams College and a master of fine arts degree from Washington University. In style, her paintings resemble comic-book serials but also contain stylistic references to hieroglyphics and American folk-art traditions. Although Ali’s work is driven by her interest in representations of socio-political issues and current events, her finished paintings rarely reveal specific references. Her most recent works include portraits as well as more abstract biomorphic images.
