Exhibitions

The galleries and exhibition spaces in the Hopkins Center display works by guest artists, faculty, students and alumni. Jaffe-Friede & Strauss Galleries are open Tuesday–Saturday, 12:30–10 pm, and Sunday, 12:30–5:30 pm. For more info, call the Studio Art Exhibition Program at 603.646.3651.

Elizabeth King: Artist-in-Residence

Combining sculpture, film and installation, Elizabeth King blurs boundaries between actual and virtual space. She creates objects out of wood, porcelain and bronze, sets them in motion with stop-frame film animation, and then presents both object and film. Said to have “a devotion to both craft and invention” (Art in America), King has exhibited nationally, including California, New York and Nevada.

John Kemp Lee: Sculpture

A faculty member of Dartmouth's Studio Art Department, sculptor John Lee holds an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth and an MFA from U. of Pennsylvania. He is the recipient of Vermont Council on the Arts grants and has been an exhibitor at the Hood Museum of Art; National Academy 181st Invitational Exhibition, New York; and Kouros Gallery, New York.

Senior Majors Exhibition

This annual exhibition features the work of Studio Art majors in a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, printmaking, digital imagery, drawing, mixed media and installation.

Upper Jewett Corridor

Chuck Holtzman & Christa Paravani

Holtzman received his MA at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in Boston, New York and Washington, D.C. His works are in such important collections as the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge; and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. This exhibition features his recent charcoal and graphite works on paper. Paravani, a Massachusetts-based artist and Visiting Studio Art Faculty member for spring '08, is exhibiting her recent photographs.
