So Percussion

Music Department Residency
World Premiere
Hop Commission

Taking percussion to the extremes of emotion and musical possibility, this innovative Brooklyn-based quartet plays music embraced by “both kinds of blue hair…elderly matron here, arty punk there” (Boston Globe), incorporating standard, invented, acoustic and electronic instruments. Their program includes works by Steve Reich—of whom they are among the leading interpreters—and a Hop-commissioned work by the young British-born composer Oscar Bettison.
