The Christmas Revels

AN ELIZABETHAN CELEBRATION OF THE WINTER SOLSTICE

Maureen Burford artistic director

Travel with the multi-generational cast to England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, as the Queen goes visiting the countryside on the eve of the winter solstice. Wild antics
ensue as the country folk do their best to amuse her, while the early music quartet Punk’s Delight wields its colorful array of Renaissance instruments to provide musical entertainment
from the ridiculous to the sublime. The show includes the mysterious Abbots Bromley Horn Dance, a riotous “mummer’s” play and the legend of St. George and the Dragon. As in every Christmas Revels, the audience is invited to join the cast of stellar guests and local talent in singing rounds and carols and dancing through the aisles for Lord of the Dance.
