WOODWORKING SHOP

The Woodworking Shop offers facilities and instruction in furniture design, cabinetmaking, wood turning and carving as well as other work in wood. Here you will find complete tools and machinery for cutting, planing, shaping, boring all materials associated with woodworking; a finishing room equipped with a spray booth; and a studio for matting and framing prints, posters, and drawings. There is also an extensive library with texts and periodicals relating to furniture design and construction as well as general issues in the history of design.

Students of all levels of experience are encouraged to use the Woodworking Shop. You could build a set of shelves, a desk, or perhaps a cabinet for your stereo system. Art students might want to build canvas stretchers; engineering students might need to construct models or prototypes. Woodshop instructors are always available to help you with all aspects of your work. No prior experience is necessary. Beginners are welcome.

The Woodworking Shop is located on the lower level of the Hopkins Center in Room 62.
