With electrically charged athleticism, young dancers from Rio de Janeiro’s suburbs and favelas fuse street, hip hop, samba, capoeira and contemporary dance to create intense and beautiful stories of their life experiences. Urbana presents two signature works: I. You. We... All black!, exploring the roles race and identity play in Brazilian culture, and Na Pista, reflecting the joyful influence of pop culture and sizzling social dance.
