Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra: Who We Are

The Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra (DSO) is the resident orchestra of the Hopkins Center at Dartmouth College. Comprising primarily Dartmouth students, and performing during the fall, winter and spring terms, its powerful performances have made it a major hit with area music lovers, who appreciate not having to travel to the city to enjoy a quality evening at the symphony.

Conducted by Filippo Ciabatti, the DSO is dedicated to the performance of standard works from the symphonic repertoire (while also including a few works off the beaten path). In the 2015-2016 season, the DSO performed works such as Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.4, Respighi’s Pines of Rome, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.4 and Beethoven’s Symphony No.9. In the current season, the DSO has programmed works by Shostakovich, Brahms, Dvorak and Debussy, among others. Sophisticated repertoire, student soloists and sellout audiences have given the DSO a growing regional reputation for excellence in performing and programming.
