Dartmouth College cultivates an environment that nurtures, encourages, and values creativity.

Dartmouth’s academic arts programs in Theater, Music, Studio Art and Film & Media Studies offer small classes and more individual attention from gifted faculty and greater access to resources—and more chances to shine.

As a complement to the in-class experience, renowned actors, dancers, musicians, and artists of all kinds come to Hanover to engage with students and faculty.

At Dartmouth, we’re not only passionate about the arts, we’re dedicated to igniting a similar passion in others.

Make the arts a part of your Dartmouth experience.

The Department of Music’s facilities include a rehearsal hall and recital hall, in addition to practice rooms and instrument storage lockers. Classes in music offer topics such as The History of Jazz, Beethoven in Context, and Twentieth Century Music to the entire student body. Individual instruction on all instruments is available for credit to Dartmouth students through the department’s Individual Instruction Program. A large collection of musical instruments is available for loan to students, including early instruments, band and orchestra instruments. In addition, the Bregman Electroacoustic Music Studio in Hallgarten Hall is a facility for playing and composing electronic music.
