Fall 2017

Programmer’s Note:

So many movies, so little time.

Each season, we present the best possible mix of restored classics and new independent film and this slate gravitates toward the same themes again and again. So, rather than program a different themed series each term, we will now tag films as part of several ongoing collections that reflect our programming mission and values.

We are doing our part to fight the Hollywood gender gap by showcasing the work of women filmmakers and celebrating complex female onscreen characters.

Girls Trip
Whose Streets?
Bronx Gothic
Pop Aye
It’s Criminal
Patti Cake$
The Incredible Jessica James - film special

This series highlights films that use the medium to raise awareness, build empathy and tackle social justice issues like poverty, racism, immigration, gender inequality and climate change.

Whose Streets?
The Big Sick
Bronx Gothic
An Inconvenient Sequel
It’s Criminal
City of Ghosts
Wind River

These classics, rare gems, alumni work and shows with live guests are programmed in direct collaboration with Dartmouth classes, student groups and campus centers.

A Man for All Seasons
Bronx Gothic
Dawson City: Frozen Time - film special
It’s Criminal
City of Ghosts

Exactly what it sounds like. While all movies benefit from an immersive theater experience with a live audience, this series promotes films you must see on the big screen.

Monty Python and The Holy Grail
Mountainfilm on Tour - film special
