An evening of timeless songs from an American legend and two-time Grammy winner.

“Some of the finest songs in the English language.” NPR
A towering legend of American music, two-time Grammy winner John Prine reaches straight to the listener’s heart. Songs like Angel from Montgomery, Sam Stone and That’s the Way that the World Goes Round point out life’s absurdities while cherishing its down-and-out people and places, showing how “empathy, ordinary language and minimal detail can produce the weight of an entire novel” (The Guardian). Join this “songwriter’s songwriter” for an intimate, unforgettable evening.
Funded in part by the Class of 1961 Legacy: the American Tradition in Performance Fund.
The Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth College presents legendary singer-songwriter John Prine in concert on Thursday, July 27, 8 pm. The concert takes place in Spaulding Auditorium—a far more intimate venue than most in which the two-time Grammy winner plays. Prine performs with his band, a few days before his highly anticipated appearance at the Newport Folk Festival.
