Dartmouth Youth Wind Ensemble
Open to students of the Upper Valley and surrounding regions, grades 6–8, this program offers students the chance to attend weekly rehearsals and to learn side-by-side with the student musicians of Dartmouth College.
This program is focused on advancing performing skills and confidence in young, developing musicians through the exploration and performance of carefully chosen, level-appropriate music for wind ensemble. During weekly rehearsals, students will enjoy the opportunity to learn in full ensemble rehearsal, as well as sectional practice for their unique instrument and occasional one-on-one pullout instruction.
Matthew M. Marsit, Director of Dartmouth Youth Wind Ensemble and long-time music educator, will oversee and direct the program, calling upon his experience teaching music on all levels, from the elementary classroom through professional. Matthew will be joined by student members of the Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble as mentors in each of the instrumental sections, along with student conductor Madeline Miller ’21, leading the ensemble from the podium.
