Long one of Boston's musical gems, The Fully Celebrated Orchestra has recorded a dozen critically acclaimed and award-winning albums in the 30 years since it formed. The trio wields an incomparable arsenal of ways and means to transform your present moment through mighty song: joyous bounce and sway, punkolodic riffage, mesmerizing incantation/cosmic groove, free-jazz intensity. Joy is the aim; celebrate fully!

Dartmouth’s own Barbary Coast will open the evening in full big band splendor, and chances are the ensembles will join forces for a final full blowout before the evening is through.

Dartmouth Opera Lab Celebrates Bernstein

Thu, October 11 at 9 pm
Top of the Hop, Free

Celebrate the 100th birthday of composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein with selections from his opera, oratorio and musical theater sung by international opera star Daniel Belcher, rising opera artist Amy Owens, the Dartmouth College Glee Club and the Hanover High School Footnotes. With music direction by Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra Music Director Filippo Ciabatti and staging by opera director and producer Peter Webster, the event includes refreshments and immersive projections to offer a cabaret atmosphere. The fun continues with sounds by DJ P.J. O’Sullivan.

Known for his “fearless musicality and dynamic stage presence” (Classical Singer), Belcher has embodied more than over 70 characters in opera, including Prior Walter in the opera of Angels in America and John Brooke in Little Women.

Two firsts in one evening! The first in the Thursday Night Live series of arts-infused, informal social gatherings, every other Thursday at 9 pm in various Hop locations — and the first event by Dartmouth Opera Lab, developing student opera talent and presenting rare, fresh and engaging vocal music in informal settings!
