Dartmouth Youth Wind Ensemble

Dartmouth Youth Wind Ensemble

Calling all 6-8th grade musicians—come join us for the Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble's Youth Wind Ensemble!

The Youth Winds program brings together Upper Valley middle-school musicians and undergraduate musicians from the Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble for a fantastic music and mentorship program. Under the direction of Dartmouth Director of Bands Brian Messier, Youth Winds runs for seven weeks, allowing young musicians to master fun and challenging repertoire alongside their college-student mentors. All rehearsals take place at the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth, and the final performance is in Dartmouth's Spaulding Auditorium.

The program will run from the first rehearsal on January 18, 2020 to the final performance on February 29, 2020. All rehearsals take place on Saturday mornings, from 9:30–11:30 am. Registration is being accepted online through this form. The $45 registration fee includes the seven rehearsals and then the final performance and celebratory reception for families after.

The mission of the Dartmouth Youth Wind Ensemble is to build the confidence and musical ability of young Upper Valley musicians. The Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble believes that through mentorship and exposure to challenging and exciting music, Youth Winds can inspire and improve the skills of young musicians. The relationships formed between mentors and mentees often span several years of the Youth Winds Program, and the rehearsals on Saturday morning are always looked forward to. We hope that you will consider joining us!
