19/20 Hop Ensemble

Dartmouth students showcase their talents at this annual music competition.

The Culley Concerto Competition is open to all students enrolled at Dartmouth College, offering performers of woodwind, brass, string and percussion instruments the opportunity to perform a solo work of their choosing. Each performer in the competition, competing in one of three categories (strings, woodwinds or brass/percussion), will receive written comments and scores from a panel of judges, who will award prizes for Best Overall Performance ($500); 1st Prize in each category ($300); and 2nd Prize in each category ($100).

Each entrant is invited to perform a maximum of 10 minutes of the work of their own choosing, which may include concerti, sonatas or other solo works for their instrument. A professional accompanist is provided for the competition, including a 30-minute rehearsal with the accompanist prior to the competition. All performances must be accompanied by the provided accompanist; exception appeals can be made to Dr. Brian Messier,
