Mozart/Levine, Requiem
Lauridsen, Lux Aeterna

Many have tried to “finish” the achingly beautiful Requiem that Mozart left incomplete upon his 1791 death, but pianist and musicologist Robert Levin’s 1991 version is the clear favorite. This 100-member town-gown chorus pairs that work with Lauridsen’s timeless, luminous 1997 work, which seamlessly integrates ancient modes, Renaissance polyphony, Romanticism and modern dissonance.

The nation’s oldest town-gown choral society offers transformative musical experiences through the performance of major choral-orchestral works, both old and new. In 2017-2018, the 100-voice ensemble, performs powerful works that speak to our time while being timeless in beauty. Celebrating 210 years of music-making in 2017!
