Celebrated California-based clarinetist Patricia Shands joins Pinkas on three 20th-century pieces full of plaintive, playful melodies; a restrained, poignant Brahms; and a new work by Cuban-born composer Ileana Perez Velazquez, whose music The New York Times praises for its “imaginative strength” and “otherworldly quality.”

Pinkas teaches and performs at Dartmouth while leading a touring and recording career as a solo and chamber musician that takes her from the Boston Pops to the Bulgarian Chamber Orchestra, from Tanglewood to Manila.
Celebrated California-based clarinetist Patricia Shands—a former Dartmouth College music instructor—joins Hopkins Center pianist-in-residence Sally Pinkas on a sparkling program of new and classic works for their instruments, on Wednesday, November 8, 7 pm, in Spaulding Auditorium of the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth College.
