In Bloom
If a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, would Mr. Binh's community treat him in the same way once they learn the truth about his partner and him?
D: Duy Anh Nguyễn, Viet Nam, 2019, 12m

Roleplay
A television advertisement film-set, an actress, a shampoo product, a promise, a strange devil, a pill—there was something insidious in the bamboo bush, it overwhelms the atmosphere, waiting to come out with the dark.
D: Duy Anh Nguyễn, Viet Nam,  2021, 17m

to boyhood, i never knew him
This poetic experimental film is a love letter to the filmmaker's childhood before his understanding of gender and body dysphoria, and a way to reclaim his now adult body and spirit on a path of healing and perseverance.
D: Trâm Anh Nguyễn, Viet Nam, 2022, 4m

Hoa
Before developing her memory disorders, the filmmaker's bà nội (paternal grandmother), Trần Thị Tuyết Hoa, wrote an autobiographical book about her life and its events.
D: Trâm Anh Nguyễn, Viet Nam, 2022, 15m

Programmed in collaboration with the Office of Pluralism and Leadership as part of Dartmouth Pride.

Duy Anh Nguyễn is a queer moving image artist based in Viet Nam. Nguyen graduated with a degree in Film Direction from a four-year exchange program between the Hanoi Academy of Theatre & Cinema in Viet Nam and INSAS in Belgium. His work explores and questions the domination of larger systems to the expressive freedom of individuals in contemporary social contexts.

Trâm Anh (formerly known as Andy) Nguyễn is an interdisciplinary artist specializing in filmmaking and photography based in Vietnam & Toronto. As a Southeast Asian trans person, he wishes to continue in creating more projects that reflect on gender & cultural identity—as well as portraying themes of vulnerability and memory into his work.
