Stuck in a midlife rut, four teacher friends embark on an audacious social experiment in Thomas Vinterberg's smart and ultimately moving tragicomedy. Will a low but constant level of alcohol in their blood help them find greater freedom and happiness? At first, all signs point to yes as each experience newfound confidence and connection. Emboldened, the gang pushes the experiment further and, unsurprisingly, the proverbial wheels come off the bus. Vinterberg (The Hunt) uses this bold premise to explore the euphoria and pain of an unbridled life. He is aided by the genuinely captivating Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) who delivers a fierce and touching performance. D: Thomas Vinterberg, Denmark, subtitled, 2020, 1h56m
