Trailer de Atlantide (HD)

On the placid waters of the Venetian lagoon, beyond the urban canals, a subculture of mostly young men tune and soup up their speedboats before racing with abandon. Yuri Ancarani's symphonic cinematic treatment of this not-so-glamorous side of Venice, Italy, is a startling collision of nature and machinery, absorption and stimulation, form and content. Experience Venice like you've never seen it before!

With opening remarks by Professor Shaul Bassi from the University of Venice

D. Yuri Ancarani, Italy, 2021, 1h44m

Free to the public.

Presented in partnership with the Leslie Center for the Humanities Institute's "Affective Currents: Moving the Environmental Humanities."

Atlantide magnifies and aestheticizes a peculiar, socially vibrant subculture to such a degree that it bypasses vérité altogether en route to a kind of earthy surrealism.”
