An extraordinary story of an ordinary family.

21/22 Theater Department

Somewhere in America, in a typical suburban restaurant on a typical night, Sam and Nicole first meet. Sparks fly. And so begins an expansive tale that traverses five generations of a modern family, from first kiss to final goodbye. A stunning, big-hearted play that spans nearly eighty years in roughly ninety minutes.

Directed by Prof. Myxolodia Tyler

Directors Notes

The Big Meal is a play that I saw developed at Playwright's Horizons and I was in awe and devasted by it. The journey that the play took me on is one I feel is universal and will always be relevant. The cycle of life and how we are influenced by and evolve into those who's genetic lineage we share is what this play examines. I dedicate this reading to my dad who I continually see every day in and around me.
