OFFICIAL TRAILER | Concerto - A Beethoven Journey (2020)

Filmed over the course of four years, Concerto follows leading concert pianist Leif Ove Andsnes as he travels the world playing sell-out concerts with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in an attempt to understand and interpret one of the greatest sets of works for piano ever written: Beethoven's five piano concertos.

Considered one of the top pianists of the age, Leif Ove Andsnes offers a rare insight into the world of a world-class musician and intimate access to his personal and professional life. Excerpts from Andsnes's exquisite and exclusive classical performances are more than brief moments; they are effectively given center stage. But this is more than a portrait of a famous musician on tour; it is an exploration of Ludwig van Beethoven's life as revealed by these five masterworks. The film seeks to reveal the composer in a way rarely seen before and bears witness to what is increasingly being regarded as one of the finest interpretations ever of these five great pieces of music. D: Phil Grabsky, USA, 2016, 1h32m.
