Founded by the Sphinx Organization, the Catalyst Quartet combines a serious commitment to diversity and education with a passion for contemporary works. Roth Distinguished Visiting Scholar Daniel Bernard Roumain will lead an enlightening dialogue with three members of this dynamic group: Karla Donehew-Perez (violin), Paul Laraia (viola) and Karlos Rodriguez (cello).
Comprised of top laureates and alumni of the internationally acclaimed Sphinx Competition for young Black and Latino string players, this genre-defying ensemble reimagines the classical music experience. Catalyst investigates the forgotten history and roots of classical music with their "Uncovered" program, featuring overlooked composers including Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, William Grant Still and George Walker.
Each week, our virtual stage brings adventurous artistry into your living room. The Hop offers a varied weekly line-up of online programming including live-streamed performances, film recommendations...
