Welcome to #SmallScreenFun: A flick a week from the heart of Hop Film with a virtual gathering to follow. Coming to a living room near you (really near you)! Here's how it works:

  1. Watch Miss Americana on Netflix over the weekend!
  2. Join us on Youtube Live on Wednesday, May 20 at 8 pm for a live chat with director Lana Wilson. Wilson's documentaries delve into the life-altering decisions (and consequences) made by people standing up for their beliefs. Whether it's an abortion clinic in Colorado, a suicide counseling session in Japan, or a heated debate within Taylor Swift's family, her clear-eyed process has made Wilson a rising star in the documentary world. We'll be chatting with her about how she gets so close to her subjects, how film can effect social change, and how (on earth) to make an intimate and authentic portrait of one of America's most-watched musical icons. You do not need to have a Youtube account to watch this chat. Simply click on the icon below just before 8 pm and you will be taken to the event. For technical assistance accessing the YouTube event, please call the Box Office at 603.646.2422, available on the night of the event.

About Miss Americana

A powerful examination of the flip side of being America's sweetheart, Miss Americana traces the rise of Taylor Swift from teen country music prodigy to pop icon to political activist. Director Lana Wilson captures Swift's fierce work ethic and creative spirit, but she also reveals how thoughtful, vulnerable and self-aware her subject is. Touching on feminist themes from social acceptance to sexual harrassment to the Equal Rights Amendment, the film highlights how Taylor leverages her fame for political causes and never takes her success for granted.

Taylor Swift on politics

“Wilson has captured Swift at a convincing turning point, ready, perhaps, to say a lot more.”

New York Times

“As Swift observes in the movie, powerful women are given the almost impossible task of being 'strategic' but not 'calculating,' and Wilson is so good at splitting the difference.”
