Honoring one of Dartmouth's best-loved traditions—and recalling one of the last Spaulding performances of this academic year—Walt will be joined by this year's finalists to relive the 2020 Idol experience and introduce performances from the Finals.
The Dartmouth Idol Finals show features some of Dartmouth's great new singing voices, singing classic and contemporary music of all types—with a big band, back-up singers and dancers, innovative staging, and that performance magic that director Walt Cunningham never fails to deliver.
Started in 2008, Dartmouth Idol draws students from all corners of campus to engage in a friendly, inclusive, high-energy singing competition. Chosen from dozens of entrants, a group of semi-finalists compete in a karaoke-style Semi-Finals show, from which six contestants progress to the Finals a month later. In the intervening month, the Finalists work with Walt, each other, and other talented singers, dancers and musicians from throughout campus to fashion a spectacular culminating show.
