Make-A-Dreidel Workshop

with Greg Elder and Janet Collins
December 08 - 15, 2020

This event occurred as part of the 20/21 Youth & Families season. This is an archived view.

Make your own wooden dreidel for Hanukkah!

Both sessions are sold out.

Hop Woodshop Director Greg Elder and Assistant Woodworking Instructor Janet Collins show you how to assemble and paint your own dreidel with the four Hebrew letters — Nun, Gimel, Hey and Shin. Together, these letters represent the Hebrew phrase Nes Gadol Hayah Sham ("a great miracle happened there"). After the paint dries, your dreidel will be ready to spin!

This free virtual workshop takes place over Zoom with two session opportunities, one on December 8th and the other on December 15th. It is ideal for ages 3-8 and is limited to 20 registrants per session.

All the materials you need come in a prepackaged make-it-at-home kit, which includes materials to make two dreidels. Registration is limited to one kit per household.

How to get your kit:

Your kit will be shipped at no cost to you with USPS ground shipping. At this time, we can only ship within the continental U.S. Please register at least 10 days prior to the workshop date you plan to attend in order to ensure adequate mailing time. Additionally, please email Ally Tufenkjian, Education and Engagement Manager at with your correct mailing address
