Meet and Move

with Vermont Dance Alliance
January 18

In the spirit of the Martha Graham Dance Company's EVE project, this special event celebrates female dance innovators in the Hop region.

19/20 Special Event

Dancemakers from the Hop region will gather for an event that includes a movement workshop and social reception:

Movement Workshop: Power in Motion
4–5 pm, Hop Garage 131

Through a balance of structured sequences and improvisational moments, movers will explore how their bodies and relationship to their own dance practice can connect with one another's. Inspired by the EVE Project's exploration of gender and power, participants will develop short sequences that highlight experimentation and multiple perspectives and encourage reflection on Graham's transformative investigations of female power through movement. This workshop is intended for movers from a range of backgrounds, experiences and abilities.

Facilitated by community-based dancer and educator Ashley Hensel-Browning.

Reception: Dancers Meet-and-Greet
5–6:30 pm, Faculty Lounge

Connect with other dance-makers about their work and upcoming projects as you enjoy some light refreshments!

This event is free for Vermont Dance Alliance members with a $5 suggested donation for nonmembers (collected at the door), please RSVP below.

Presented in partnership with the Vermont Dance Alliance.
