Mountain Goat Mountain

by Threshold
April 10 - May 30, 2021

This event occurred as part of the 20/21 Youth & Families season. This is an archived view.

An audio theatre experience for families to do in their homes together. Created by Zoë Barry, Tahli Corin, Liz Francis, Nikita Hederics and Sarah Lockwood.

20/21 Youth & Families

Using just a bedsheet, an audio device, pencils and a piece of paper, Mountain Goat Mountain immerses families in a 45-minute theatrical exploration. Participants are carried along by a narrative soundscape and are invited to bring their own creativity and imagination to the performance. With guided activities that help families set up and step into their own imaginative world, Mountain Goat Mountain bumps you out of the ordinary and into a place where you work together to uncover secrets and discover the hidden treasures in each other.

Families have described this experience as "a meeting between imaginative play, radio theatre and a guided physical meditation with opportunities for silliness and laughter" and "enchanting from beginning to end."

This experience is ideal for ages 5+ and needs at least one grown-up and one young person.

To participate in this journey, you'll need:

  • A charged audio device (computer, phone or tablet)
  • A bed sheet (the bigger the better)
  • A piece of blank paper
  • Your favorite pencils, pens or markers
  • A space to move around in

In this video, Threshold co-founder Sarah Lockwood tells you more about what to expect on your trip to the Mountain.

What is Mountain Goat Mountain?

About Threshold and the Artists

Threshold is a new Australian company creating experiences that bring people together at life's big moments. Co-founders Tahli Corin and Sarah Lockwood collaborate with a team of artists to create performances that allow people to experience the delight and impact of theatre in their own homes. Threshold experiences provide prompts for deeper connection and physical closeness to help people find the poetic or the playful in milestone moments.

When theatres across the country started shutting down in light of the COVID-19 restrictions, Threshold seized the opportunity to adapt one of their earlier installation works into a fully digital experience, thus creating Mountain Goat Mountain. Combining new technology and everyday objects with the ritual of theatre, the Threshold team has opened up the idea of transformative space in the family home.
