No Other Land
No Other Land
This Oscar-winning vérité doc follows a Palestinian activist and Israeli journalist as they work together to document the destruction in the West Bank. Discussion follows.
AAPI Heritage Month Film Series
As all eyes have focused on Gaza, the war in the West Bank has continued. A young Palestinian filmmaker, Basel Adra, and a young Israeli reporter, Yuval Abraham, along with co-directors Hamdan Ballal and Rachel Szor, captured the story of the villages of Masafer Yatta in the southern West Bank, as the Israeli army exerts growing pressure to push the Palestinians from their land.
In addition to the indelible footage of destruction and expulsion captured by its undaunted witnesses, this Oscar-winning vérité-style documentary serves as a moving portrait of friendship between Adra and Abraham, who form a philosophical and political alliance despite the drastic differences in their abilities to exist freely in this world.
No Other Land had its Upper Valley premiere at this year's White River Indie Film Fest, and we are eager to bring the film to campus to continue the conversation.
