While on a tight deadline, an introverted editor (Brian Tyree Henry) is locked out of his apartment. In order to find his way back inside, he's forced to interact with...his neighbors.
20/21 Hop Film
In this breezy comedy, Brian Tyree Henry stars as Charles, an editor of preemptive eulogies for not-yet-dead celebrities. Following a break-up with his girlfriend Isha (Sonequa Martin-Green), Charles vows to stay in his apartment and feel sorry for himself all day, a plan foiled when an unfortunate encounter with a delivery person leaves him locked out and shoeless. On a tight deadline, Charles tries to get back into his apartment, growing increasingly desperate and left with only his neighbors to help. Compassionately shot and chock-full of wonderful performances, this low-key comedy (and debut for director Casimir Nozkowski) is a welcome dose of comforting fun, both hilarious and genuinely touching. D: Casimir Nozkowski, USA, 2020, 1h25m.
"a warm hug of a film"; "perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon when any opportunity to venture outside – even through a digitized prism – is welcome"
