With tenacious optimism, Madá rolls with the punches no matter what her condescending employers throw at her over the course of three consecutive Christmases (summertime in Brazil) at their luxury beachside condo. She invests in a roadside snack kiosk while serving as den mother for the other workers, becomes a bystander in a major money-laundering scandal (based on real events), and eventually launches a whole new career.
