Guy Ritchie's WWII men-on-a-mission adventure finds Henry Cavill leading a top-secret combat unit using unconventional methods to fight the Nazis.
Hop Film Now
With the postmodern wink of Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds and the revered heroism of Nolan's Dunkirk, Guy Ritchie's (Sherlock Holmes, Snatch) latest action comedy is dripping with style, movie references, English wit and quite a bit of Nazi blood.
Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department, this true story centers on the first-ever special forces organization formed by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill (Rory Kinnear) and a small group of military officials, including author Ian Fleming (Slow Horses' Freddie Fox) and a brigadier who conspicuously goes by the initial "M" (Cary Elwes).
The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks (Henry Cavill, Henry Golding), goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly "ungentlemanly" fighting techniques. Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.
