Wicked - Double Feature
This event occurred as part of the 25/26 Hop Film season. This is an archived view.
Pre-game Winter Carnival's 'Blizzard of Oz' with this musical double-feature, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
This event has been canceled.
If you can't get enough of this pop culture phenomenon, here's your chance to see the whole film in one sitting! Nominated for 10 Oscars, the first film introduces Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) and Ariana Grande as Glinda (the Good Witch), focusing on their early friendship and contrasting destinies before Dorothy's arrival in Oz. Act two (Wicked: For Good) finds the now-infamous Elphaba exiled and fighting to protect the animals from the Wizard's ruthless agenda. Glinda, assuming the role of the celebrated Good Witch, is torn between public adulation and the loss of her friendship with Elphaba.
A faithful and expansive adaptation of the smash Broadway show, the films are grounded by the themes of love, prejudice and the complexity behind notions of good and evil. Erivo and Grande deliver heartfelt performances, buoyed by a stellar supporting cast (Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, heartthrob Jonathan Bailey of Bridgerton fame), as well as showstopping musical numbers, heavenly costumes and eye-popping production design. You will never look at The Wizard of Oz the same way again.
