The Wizard of Oz
This event occurred as part of the 19/20 Hop Film season. This is an archived view.
This beloved musical is 80 years young and still dazzling families around the globe.
#MovieMagicYou know the story: Judy Garland stars as Dorothy Gale, a young Kansas farm girl who dreams of a land "somewhere over the rainbow." A tornado grants that wish, transporting her to a magical Technicolor world unlike anything she has seen before. She quickly makes herself a mortal enemy, the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) and a few friends: a scarecrow without a brain, a tin man with no heart and a cowardly lion.
Protected by a pair of enchanted Ruby Slippers, Dorothy must "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" to the Emerald City to beseech the "Wonderful Wizard of Oz" to help her get back to her family because there's no place like home. D: Victor Fleming, US, 1939
