Looking for help producing an arts event? This application-based program grants student projects Hop support in the form of free space, production, ticketing and marketing support.
The Student Space Access Initiative is specifically designed for student-created performances that are open to the campus community or general public. Applications are accepted each term, and we award support to projects ranging in size and complexity. Hop staff will work closely with grantees to clarify Hop in-kind support, ensure compliance with Hop space and operating procedures and provide mentorship and advice to help make your event successful.
How It Works
- Connect with a Hop staff member to review the request process and determine the appropriate tier for the project
- Email us or drop by the Student Initiatives Office on the first floor of Wilson Hall
- For large shows
Successfully complete a smaller-scale event then apply
For small & medium shows
Submit an application with all required information and documentation.

- Coordinate with members of the Hop production, marketing and event staff teams to plan your event
- Produce your arts event! (as described in your application and following Hop guidelines)
- Complete an event assessment form
- Fill out a brief survey and connect with Hop staff to discuss how the producing process and your event went. Students and groups in good standing… produce your next event!
Event & Support Tiers
Do I need to apply to this program to use space at the Hop?
No, students and student groups can submit space requests for events that are private or not seeking requiring Hop funding support using our space request form>
But if you are seeking free Hop production, event, ticketing, or marketing support, then yes you'll need to apply though this program.
Does the Hop help market my event?
Yes, we will partner with you to promote your event. Much like production support, our marketing support depends on the scope and scale of your event and staff capacity. It can include helping with a web presence, building signage, eblast and social media inclusion, and in some cases print materials.
Can I charge for tickets?
No, but we will work with you to make a plan for controlling capacity and tracking attendees.
