Discover the rich history and vibrant future of Mexican music in the second Music Mexico Symposium. In collaboration with University of Houston Moores School of Music.

22/23 Special Event

The three-day interdisciplinary event features musicians, performers and scholars exploring the musical traditions of Mexico from before the revolution to the present day. Learn about the representation of Mexican music in wind band literature and educational settings today. This event is open to all practicing instrumental music educators as well as interested graduate and undergraduate music education students!

The 2023 Music Mexico Symposium is part of Dartmouth's Mexican Repertoire Initiative, launched by Director of Bands Brian Messier in spring of 2022. The first Music Mexico Symposium took place at the Hop in May 2022.
